Rossella Guasco, Chief Designer Trends & Materials Scouting at the Fiat Style Centre, tells us about the design choses behind the 500 Aria and the Panda Aria.
Background research and close study of ecological materials led the designers of the Panda Aria to use natural fibres for the upholstery, biodegradable plastics for some of the internal components, and translucent eco-resins for the external bodywork. Meanwhile for the 500 Aria, the green approach focused more on using recycled materials, such as the rubber used for the tyres, regenerated hides and textiles for the seats, and other composite materials.

La Ricerca e lo studio di materiali ecologici ha spinto i designer di Panda Aria all’utilizzo di fibre naturali per i rivestimenti, di plastiche biodegradabili per alcuni componenti interni ed ecoresine semitrasparenti per la scocca esterna. Mentre per 500 Aria l’approccio Green si è focalizzato maggiormente su materiali provenienti dal riciclaggio, come le gomme dei pneumatici, tessuti e pelli rigenerate per i sedili e altri materiali compositi.
